The City of Rolling Meadows takes its fun and recreation seriously.

Recreation activities are offered year round. There are a multitude of fun and exciting events that enhance the lives of the people living here. Some of the many recreational facilities provided by the Rolling Meadows Park District (847-818-3220) are located within the city and nearby.

  • Eleven parks with lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, ball diamonds, soccer fields, picnic sites, and more.
  • A nature preserve with hiking trails.
  • The Nelson Sports Complex at Salk Park (847-818-3210) featuring an indoor ice arena, fitness center, gymnastics center, gymnasium center, Olympic-size swimming pool, water slide, and wading pool.
  • The Community Center on Pheasant Drive (847-818-3200) offers programs from pre-school through senior activities.
  • The Rolling Meadows Golden Years Council (847-818-3205) has games and crafts for seniors.
  • The Northrop Teen Center graphic(847-818-3208) provides teens with a safe, fun after-school environment.
  • William B. Fosser's Puppet Opera Theatre at Park Central.
  • West Meadows Ice Arena (847-398-2700) features a NHL-size indoor rink.

In addition, the Park District provides a year-round schedule of sports, athletics, special events, and activities for all ages. It includes everything from peewee bowling and beginning karate to swimming, hockey, and a bowling league for seniors.

The park district also will rent facilities for parties and get-togethers.

Park Central has a beautifully appointed hall that includes a New Orleans-style courtyard complete with fountain and landscaping. This facility, which includes a kitchen, dance floor and bar, can accommodate up to 120 guests.

Other facilities include the Community Center, which also offers a kitchen and dance floor; the Plum Grove Park banquet facility, which along with the kitchen and bar also includes a stone fireplace and full window view of the surrounding grounds; and West Meadows Ice Arena includes a conference room.

There are plenty of privately owned health and recreation facilities throughout the city as well.
